Danny List Wins the 124th California State Open Championship
November 20, 2024

Danny List has reached a new pinnacle in his career as he prepares for his PGA Tour debut at the 2025 Genesis Invitational—an opportunity bestowed upon him through the prestigious Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption selected by Tiger Woods. This honor is especially significant given that the tournament, moved to the iconic Torrey Pines due to wildfires, is played on the same course where Woods once celebrated a historic win that ignited List’s passion for the game. “Hearing that Tiger’s chosen me to play was a pinch-me moment,” List shared, capturing the gravity of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
This recent breakthrough builds on a series of remarkable achievements over the past year. In July 2024, List stunned the golfing community by winning the 124th California State Open with a record-breaking score of 21-under par—a performance that not only marked his triumphant return following a challenging 2023 injury but also established him as one of the sport’s most promising talents.
His momentum continued in November 2024 when he secured his DP World Tour card by finishing in the top 21 at Q-School, affirming his readiness to compete with the best on the global stage.
Earlier in 2025, List further demonstrated his competitive prowess with a third-place finish on the Challenge Tour in South Africa, a result that underscored his resilience even as he navigated the ups and downs of professional competition, including setbacks like missed cuts in events such as Qatar. Amid these on-course successes, List’s commitment off the course remains unwavering.
Through the Danny List Foundation, he supports around 40 young golf enthusiasts in Ghana—providing coaching, equipment, and opportunities for international exposure, with some of these promising talents travelling to the UK and the US for further development.
As he steps onto the world stage at Torrey Pines, his rapid ascent not only inspires a new generation of golfers but also reaffirms his place among the sport’s elite.
